When a dwelling is designed a SAP calculation is required by Building Control to prove that the finished dwelling will comply with Part L of the Building Regulations. What is a SAP calculation?

 

Not all SAP calculations are the same!

SAP 2009 has many more “defaults” than before (thermal bridging, domestic hot water, thermal mass, even heating & air conditioning systems etc). Using these values reduces the cost of the calculation but increases the cost of the construction required to make the building comply! Attention to detail and calculating the actual value of each element minimises any increase in construction costs.
